I'm unsure of the exact date the structure was built, the year of 1904 is correct as its history was published in a township published magazine titled, "THE RAVEN: Northwest Minnesota's Original Art, History & Humor Journal," in 2000. One of the very first full-color issues, Volume 5, the Drip Dry Spring Issue, featured Helmfred Johnson and Roy Shoquist on the front page wearing Gold Medal flour sacks for the sack race in front of the school. It was dated May 7, 1926, and sent in by Rod Medicraft, a former student.
Ah, the pleasant hours I spent there as an election judge waiting for the 33 voters of Palmville Township to stop by and cast their votes.
ReplyDeleteYah I vas a judge too. Fer many years Palmville Township had da highest voter turnout of all da 1,806 townships in Minnesota by percentage of voters in da township, doncha know.
