The 2026th Easter

Hello and welcome to an Easter Saturday, here at the Wannskan Almanac. Today is April 4th. Hallelujah! We made it to April. Oh, wait. Major winter storms. Nevermind.

Hello, this is Antonin writing, and I will be talking about the two thousand twenty-sixth Easter and breaking it down.

Oh, also by the way, at school a couple of months ago, I wrote a book, but not just any book, I wrote "The Maze In The Cupboard." Basically, it is about a boy named Dane who gets sucked into a purple cupboard by a purple key. The cupboard brings Dane into a magical world called Cublandia. Can Dane escape? Will Larry survive, or will Perry win?

Now that the book preview is over, I can finally start talking about what my intentions were to write about this lovely Saturday. I think Easter is a very important liturgical holiday. Why wouldn't it be? Jesus died and then he defied death three days later by coming alive. Let's break that down.

Let's start with Friday.

On Good Friday, Jesus did the fourteen Stations of the Cross, but not the normal ones we do in church. He didn't have a pamphlet, and he wasn't walking around a bunch of pictures with Roman numerals. Jesus really acted out those stations. It wasn't a joke. It was preparation for his death on the cross. As you may know, Jesus died on Golgotha. He had two men beside him, one on his left and one on his right. I don't know much about these people, but I think Jesus said to them something like, "My brothers, you will be my brothers in heaven." (My mom just explained that one was like, "Hey, Jesus, you're God, save us!" and the other guy was like, "Bruh. We're in the wrong. We DID do evil and this guy is innocent. Jesus, I'm sorry for my sins." and then Jesus was like, "You're forgiven and I'll see you in heaven." But the other guy? No dice.) And, finally, the most important part of Good Friday was Jesus' death. He said, "I thirst," and one of the people gave him a sponge soaked in wine. When he drank it all, he said, "It is finished." And then, in a loud voice, he said, "Lord, why have you forsaken me?" as he gave up his spirit.

Saturday. I don't know much about the Saturday, but I think all the women were weeping and it was really sad, and people stayed indoors. It was just a really big, sad day.

Sunday - Sunday is Easter. Sunday is the day my Lord Jesus Christ defied the rules of death and rose from the dead. As you may know, after he rose from the dead, he was alive another fifty days and then ascended into heaven. Everyone was super happy about it until he left on the fiftieth day of Pentecost.

In the end, I think the whole season of Lent is very important to Christians and people who believe in God. I think it's something people should learn about, and try to learn about, and want to learn about. But then again, this is just me talking through a bunch of words. So, honestly, after reading this, you could just take a nap.

I hope you like my writing and I'll see you the next time I write.

  1. Antonin, I'm with you about Lent. I'm 78 and every year I learn something new about Lent. Because you are a thinker, when you are my age, I bet you'll be able to say the same thing. Enjoy your Easter candies!

  2. Hey, I liked the way you caught the sun, just on the leading edge of that cloud, in your image; you have a good eye. I'm sure readers think exactly the same way about my writing too: "This is just me talking through a bunch of words. So, honestly, after reading this, you could just take a nap." I read you every time you write, so ...Did Dane escape? Did Larry survive, Did Perry win?" Don't leave me hangin', Antonin. What are your answers?
