The Wannaskan Almanac for May 7, 2019

The number 7.

There are 7 days in a week.  It is the number of perfection (don't tell that to Bo Derek), security (so I use it as my passcode for my debit card), safety (although only quarterbacks, punters, and kickers can wear 7 in American football), and rest (because God rested on the seventh day).
There are 7 colors in the rainbow.  Roy G Biv is the way most people remember this.  Biv is an actual surname that has been used, but according to the latest data available there are less than 100 people in the USA that have this name.  There is no record of a real person named Roy G. Biv.  If there was, he would probably be wearing rainbow suspenders!
There are VII letters in the Roman Numeral system.  I've seen IV forms of ivy.  I had an IV that was used to inject me with radioactIVe dye.  There are no words that I can think that have VII in them.  You would think there would be 7.
There were seven dwarfs in the tale of Snow White.  There names were Sleepy, Doc, uh...Twisty, Henry...well, you know the rest.
Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of the United States.  He was an original singer with the Jackson 7.  They did not release any albums.
Roy Sullivan (no relation to Roy G. Biv) was struck by lightning 7 times.  He survived all of those strikes and was finally convinced to stop running around holding a big metal pole and shouting, "You missed me!"
The Cherokee peace flag has the 7 stars of the Big Dipper on it.  The Canadian flag has the Maple Leaf of the Big Bopper on it.

7 is a number that you aren't supposed to say at a craps table.  It is considered bad luck. It is why gamblers seldom get married for the seventh time.

May seven, May seven
A gift sent from heaven
Winter is now over
Saw a four leafed clover
So lucky, so green
We are now in between
The cold hell of winter
And a mosquito bite center
Those few days of Spring
They are just the thing
To dust off our poles
And awaken our souls

Have a wonderful rest of you day...May you be lucky enough to enjoy a spring day!
