There are many questions that plague mankind. They include:
Why do we exist?
What happens when we die?
What killed the dinosaurs?
Today, however, I will tackle perhaps the most sinister question of them all...why did the chicken cross the road?
Chickens are always afraid of being the butt of the joke. They never cross the road without carefully looking both ways. They don’t do this for safety. They want to make sure that there is nobody watching them cross the road. The last thing any chicken wants to hear yelled out is, “Hey chicken, why did you cross that road?”
Well one day a little black and white hen named Rhoda was jamming to her favorite ZZ Top song. She was walking toward a road and was so into the song...singing along...”She got eggs, she knows how to hatch them...” she had on her headphones and sunglasses, and maybe that was why she didn’t remember to check around before she started crossing the road.
Several kids noticed her strutting and singing. The kids began to yell out, “Hey chicken! Why are you crossing that road?”
Rhoda couldn’t hear them. She just continued on to...the other side! The kids couldn’t believe it. They had witnessed a chicken doing the unheard of...crossing a road! They whipped out their phones and began to send messages and texts and tweets and snapchats!
Then one of the kids stopped pounding on her smartphone. She looked thoughtful for a minute, and then turned to her friends. “Why did the chicken cross the road?” she asked.
I guess we’ll never know.
