Hello and welcome to the Girls State Hockey Championship, Saturday, here at the Wannaskan Almanac. Today is February 21st. Go, Lady Warriors! Catch the stats here. Game time is at 4pm.
Today, on this wonderful morning, I will be talking about how this week went. This was an interesting week, and by this I mean Bob Ross paintings, UNO tables, and fasting.
When I say Bob Ross paintings, you may be thinking, Bob Ross, how do you know he exists? My answer is that my teacher is a painter, a really good one too. But anyway, because my teacher likes painting with Bob Ross, she decided that we were going to try to paint with/like Bob Ross too. We didn't finish out paintings, but it was basically a river in the middle with clouds and trees in the background. Mine turned out pretty good, but then I looked at my teacher's painting, and it was identical to Bob Ross's painting.
Oh, and by the way, this week we were supposed to have 3 days of gym, but because of President's Day and an unexpected snow day, we only got one day of gym.
My teacher has lunch duty on even days/gym days. Because we were gone on the gym days, we could only have one UNO day with our teacher. And what that means is she picks a certain class to play UNO with and the rule is first-come, first-served. You can't save spots. And lucky enough for us, Friday was our UNO day. I won. I got first, but because one of my friends and I teamed up, we broke the rules - which was cheating. We were playing UNO No Mercy. UNO No Mercy is a version of UNO that has +10's, +6's, Reverse +4's, along with what my other friend and I like to call "The Assassin Card." You can't have teams in No Mercy. Also, it was really boring because two people took way too long. My teacher was really cranky after that.
When I say fasting, you would probably think of going really fast, like on a bobsled. But when I fast during Lent, I mean not eating. You also, as a Catholic, you must give something up as you prepare your heart for Jesus's death. I gave up all online games (except for Prodigy, which is the best game ever.) I also gave up cracking my knuckles and back because my mom hates it when I do it. On Ash Wednesday, we had to fast from food. It was really annoying because on that day we also had a snow day, so we had to shovel and fast. Which is like taking away energy and not getting any back. So, at the end of the day, when we were going to Ash Wednesday mass, we were really cranky because we were really hungry. Looking back, I feel accomplished because I went through that entire day without eating. It made me feel good about myself.
Looking back on the week itself, it was like a rollercoaster. It had its ups and downs. I leveled up my favorite pet on Prodigy. It's called Celestorn, and is the maximum level for the Starcolt. My down was getting a B on a language arts assignment.
I had a lot of fun writing this blog. I hope that I can write it next week!
Goodbye!
