Wannaskan Almanac for Tuesday, November 11, 2025 Honoring Our Heroes: A Veterans Day Tribute

Every year on November 11th, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day is more than just a date on the calendar—it’s a chance to say thank you to those who have risked their lives to protect our freedom. Whether they served in war or peace, at home or overseas, veterans deserve our deepest respect and gratitude.

Many veterans have faced challenges that most of us can’t imagine. They’ve spent months or years away from their families, endured harsh conditions, and made sacrifices that go far beyond the battlefield. Some came home with visible wounds, while others carry invisible ones. But through it all, they stood strong for our country. That kind of courage deserves more than just a moment—it deserves our lifelong appreciation.

Veterans Day is also a time to remember those who didn’t come home. These fallen heroes gave everything so that we could live in safety and freedom. Visiting a memorial, attending a ceremony, or simply taking a quiet moment to reflect are powerful ways to honor their memory. Their stories remind us that freedom isn’t free—it’s paid for by the bravery of others.

One of the best ways to show respect is to listen. Talk to a veteran. Ask about their experiences. You might be surprised by what you learn. Some will share stories of friendship, teamwork, and pride. Others may speak of hardship and loss. But every story matters, and every veteran deserves to be heard.

We can also support veterans by helping them in everyday life. Volunteering at a local VA hospital, donating to veteran organizations, or simply saying “thank you for your service” can make a big difference. These small acts of kindness show that we care—not just on Veterans Day, but all year long.  You can also donate to veteran charities like Wounded Warrior Project.

So this November 11th, let’s do more than just wear red, white, and blue. Let’s honor our veterans with our words, our actions, and our hearts. Because they didn’t just serve a country—they served all of us.

  1. You're welcome.
I didn't volunteer to go but it turned out to be highly educational.
    Much better than college.

  2. Oh, happy Tuesday. Looks like we got a Mr. Busboy sequel for the Mr. HotCocoa scatturday prequel.

It doesn't fix anything middle man.
I learned that from my dead vet dad. Remember the stories I shared?
    Of course you do.

    I like facts over emotions.
Learned it at my years of Yale bootcamp.

    You're welcome.
