Wannaskan Almanac for Tuesday, March 7, 2023 Time to Celebrate

I feel like celebrating!  Christmas was a long time ago...so was my birthday...and New Year's!  And groundhog day was a big letdown!  So here we go...it has been a while...but this is a fractured look at March 7 celebrations!

March 7 is Alexander Graham Bell Day.  In honor of this day telemarketers are encouraged to incessantly call the 58 Americans who have not ditched their landlines (51 of those people live in Wannaska) and let freedom ring.

March 7 is is also National Be Heard Day.  This is not to be confused with the May 19th celebration of Bee Herd day.  A bee herd will certainly be heard though.

Be Heard day...Everyone is abuzz

March 7 is National Cereal Day.  This day was celebrated by my beautiful wife until she met the chef of her dreams.  Now she can have spaghetti and meatballs on cereal day.  It has changed her life.

March 7 is also National Crown Roast of Pork Day.  This is actually a French holiday.  The French monarchy was reluctant to wear the gaudy gold and jewel encrusted crowns that the hated English pranced around wearing.  Instead they made their crowns of the choicest pork cuts.  This lead to the famous words of Marie Antoinette..."Let them eat cake...I shall eat crown."  You might think she was crazy to say it.  I'll admit it sounded as if she'd lost her head.

March 7 is Plant Power Day.  This is a good day to plant those old batteries that you have been storing in a jar under your sink.  Then, in a few short months, you will be able to harvest fresh new batteries to power your walkman and ghetto blaster.

Unique Names Day - March 7, 2023 Ah...so many people have been celebrating this.  As a basketball announcer I would like to thank all the people who have come up with Seussical names for their offspring.  Your quick ability to be offended by the mispronunciation of your phonetically impossible inventions makes every basketball game into a tongue twisting adventure.  You guys rock!

World Math Day.  3/7/2023 is actually equal to 0.00021184944.  This number is surprisingly similar to the percentage of people in the world who celebrate World Math Day.

Really just a symbolic celebration

  1. "My Health As It Is Day," in which I can stand without assistance, breathe in and breathe out without encumbrance, see without glasses, hear (to an extent), walk without an aid, love my wife, drive vehicles, write legibly by hand, and use a keyboard, laugh and know why, joke, appropriately expression emotion, appreciate beauty, visit with friends. And enjoy a beer or two now and then.

  2. Thank you for making the Wannaskan Almanac Heard Today.
I’m also celebrating the un-unique names of our contributors: John, Steve, Catherine, Joe.
Kim is in between. Not biblical, but not unique either.
