Sunday Squibs

The moon’s now occulted ‘twixt the earth and the sun.

She’ll serve a thin slice to restart the fun.

I may be able to afford a luxury item, but there’s nowhere for me to buy the sophistication needed to enjoy it.

The recipient of tough love should know that nothing will tenderize that love like his penitent tears.

I used to feel anxiety entering a roomful of strangers. No more. I just jump on my phone like everyone else.

People on public transportation are so wrapped up in their phones that the flasher has become obsolete.

Drink cuts the legs off tomorrow morning and props them under tonight.

Is football a game of skill? The shape of the ball insures it’s a game of chance.

To find things more easily in this our daily mess, I walk around backwards: seeing more when speed is less.

We all have this secret power of invisibility which allows us to view life vicariously.

It’s called television.

Comments

  1. Sophistication: "... having, revealing, or proceeding from a great deal of worldly experience and knowledge of fashion and culture." There isn't a more sophisticated person in the whole of eastern Palmville. Who are you trying to kid?

  2. Or as Emerson said, "Great genial power, one would almost say, consists in not being original at all; in being altogether receptive; in letting the world do all, and suffering the spirit of the hour to pass unobstructed through the mind."

Squibs are an alert, receptive form of seeing: the opposite of television; the daily mess wrought clear; unsophistication as secret power.
