Sunday Squibs

The flag at half-mast this week didn’t have a chance to go up again before another mass shooting occurred.

How long must it stay down before the country wakes up?

They say that “Three’s a crowd.” If that be true

Then I shall sing the praises of the ménage à two.

Dreams may tell us what we want, but they’re a poor guide for what we should do.

If something is broken I’ll fix or replace it. If it’s only cracked I must study that. If it’s not going to get any worse, I can learn to live with a crack, a bend, or even a small leak.

I don’t try to psychoanalyze the crazies in my life. I just hand them a list of local counselors and psychologists. My only reward is a small commission for any referrals.

While walking in the woods, if I stop my thinking for a minute, I get an impoverished view of what the animals see.

  1. If you are walking in the woods and stop thinking for a minute you'll regret not having employed a 'Curve Man' ... Argh!

  2. Perhaps you mean ménage à deux? Dreams inhabit another landscape and don't operate by earthly rules.
Do unto others as you wouldn't have them do unto you?
If only we could see as the animals do, we might see the necessity of a healthy Earth, confusion about so much death in their domains, and their desperation when they are the last one of their kind . See James Dickey's, "For the Last Wolverine." at

    1. A "Curve Man/Spotter/Person" is the replacement of 'riding shotgun' sitting in the passenger seat up front of a motor vehicle, a supervisory role coined by Chairman Joe on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
