Wannaskan Almanac for November 16, 2021 Whether or Not I am Wrong

People don't call each other anymore.  The landline has become a thing of the past.  Smart phones (and ironically, stupid people) abound.  You can check your email, talk to an automated telemarketer, or send a text from virtually anywhere...except remote parts of Roseau County.  These places still require carrier pigeons or smoke signals.

One of the dangers is that people will text and drive.  This is bad, but apparently texting and walking is just as scary.

With your smart phone you can also check the smart weather.  It is always good to know whether the weather will hold.  This made me wonder how often the weather man (or woman) is right.  According to their own statistics, a seven-day forecast can accurately predict the weather about 80 percent of the time and a five-day forecast can accurately predict the weather approximately 90 percent of the time. However, a 10-day—or longer—forecast is only right about half the time.  On the other hand, the Farmer's Almanac is known for making vague references to the weather.

Weather and more...and they are never wrong!

Readers of the Old Farmer's Almanac claim that the weather predictions made are about 80-85% accurate.  I think that the Wannaskan Almanac can top that.  So get out your smart phone (if you aren't driving or walking near a fountain) and get ready for the most accurate weather prediction you will ever see.  The following is all but guaranteed for the Wannaska area.

November 17:  Sunny skies during the morning will lead to a warming trend.  High temperature will reach around 39 degrees Fahrenheit.  Or Celsius if it really gets warm, but we are leaning toward Fahrenheit.  Clouds will appear around 4 PM and the temperature will drop to 6 degrees by midnight.  Snow will develop.  So get your snow tires on.  Don't be caught in a drift!

November 18:  Blizzard conditions give way to heavy snow, high winds, and drifting.  Wannaskan residents without snow tires are left stranded in their homes.  Mail delivery will be delayed three days.

These weather predictions have never been wrong yet.  Please, dear reader, be prepared!  Have multiple cans of butternut squash on hand.  Also stock up on butter and butterscotch hard candies.  Don't end up resorting to Donner Party rules!

We will see whether or not I am right!  (Note, no year was attached to the date on purpose due to advice from Wannaskan Almanac legal counsel)

  1. The woman was texting a friend to meet her at the fountain.

  2. Cellphone neophyte-me wonders how this woman was identified at all, although I'll bet there are many people out there who think they were the ones caught on camera. The difference being this woman was obviously keen to jump into the public eye and stardom by publicly confessing, "Yes, yes, yes that's me. I am sooo embarrassed ... " I can see her in future Farmers Insurance commercials. She's got it made now, I'm guessing.

    1. She worked at the mall so the guy watching the security camera feed knew who she was. She worked in HR and and ignored his requests to transfer out of the security camera feed. When he saw her headed for the fountain he could have warned her over the PA system but chose not to. That’s why she’s suing the mall.
