January 21, 2020 Wannaskan Almanac...Tis Tuesday!

It is Tuesday.
Tuesday is either the second or the third day of the week, depending on how you look at it.  According to international standard ISO 8601 Tuesday is the second day of the week.  According to a guy who I ran into at Walmart, Tuesday is the the third day of the week.  I am not sure which edict carries more weight with me.
The name Tuesday derives from the Old English "Tiwesdæg" and literally means "Tiw's Day". Tiw is the Old English form of the Proto-Germanic god *Tîwaz, or Týr in Old Norse. ... The Latin name dies Martis ("day of Mars") is equivalent to the Greek ἡμέρα Ἄρεως (Iméra Áreos).  That is why the French word for Tuesday is Mardi, and the Greek word for Tuesday is Trítē.  Not to be Trite, but I like the Greek word for Tuesday best.
According to unverified rankings, Tuesday is the second worst day.  It is only subtly better than Monday according to most Weekologists.  That sick feeling you have on Monday morning is replaced by the wonder of Tuesday's hopelessness of enduring another week of work.  Tuesday does get a bump in the world rankings every February as people celebrate Mardi Gras, but it is short lived.  As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, Tuesdays are the January of the week...boring and monotonous.
Tuesday is also the most productive workday of the week.  Benjamin Franklin once said, "I get all my inventin' in on Tuesdays.  I spend the rest of the week hiding in a closet while reading Cracked Magazine."
Note, the preceding two quotes may have been misrepresentations.
Black Tuesday refers to the great stock market crash that happened on October 29, 1929.

Super Tuesday is a day when many states hold their presidential primaries.
Patch Tuesday is the second Tuesday of every month.  It is when Microsoft sends out patches to fix problems with their operating system. It is when they put a little "hitch" in their "glitch".

Call in sick Tuesday is a holiday that I am working to spread worldwide.  It is a follow up to my wildly successful Call in sick Monday holiday.  I really think you should try it.  I love it!  Unless you are actually sick...then just go in and share your misery with your coworkers.
The book "Tuesday" by David Weisner was published in 1991.  It won the Caldecott award.  It is a very light read, mainly because it has no words...except on the cover.
I hope that your Tuesday is amazing.  Or at least the 6th best day of your week.  You have to start somewhere.

  2. Sven and Ole kept pestering Lena so she locked her door and wouldn’t let them in. “Come back later’” she said.
“When should we come back?” Ole asked and put his ear to the keyhole to hear her response. Lena backed up to the keyhole and ripped a tremendous fart.
“What did she say?” asked Sven.
    “I think she said ‘Tuesday.’”
