WAKWIR Fill In for February 16

 WAKWIR Fill In

The WAKWIR is back and welcome back to another Fill In! The only reason my mom is having me do this is so we can Mockingjay part 1 tonight (Fri. Feb 15 2019).

Now, have you ever wondered what WAKWIR meant? I know, I know, I know. You might think that that’s a dumb question. But I know what you’re thinking: It means Wannakskan Almanac Kid Writer In Residence. But have you ever noticed this: the “WAK” in WAKWIR stands for “Wannaska/Wannaskan”. And in “WIR”, if you switch the “I” and the “R” you get “WRI” which would stand for “Writer”. So then if you would put the two words together, you get “WAKWRI”, which would mean Wannaska/Wannaskan Writer. Pretty cool eh?

After seeing the first two movies, I love the Hunger Games movies. The movies are close to the book as in what happens. I highly recommend you to watch the movies since they are very good and meaningful. Here is a summary: WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS

Here's a summary I borrowed from this website: http://learnenglishteens.britishcouncil.org/magazine/books/hunger-games-trilogy-plot-summary

"The Hunger Games is set in our world, but in a post-apocalyptic time. The Capitol is the cruel Government of the twelve districts of Panem, which was once North America. As punishment for a revolution in the past, the Capitol created the Hunger Games. One boy and one girl (aged twelve to eighteen) are chosen from each district to fight on live television until only one child remains.
Our main character is Katniss Everdeen, who volunteers in the place of her younger sister Primrose for District Twelve. The male “tribute” for the district is Peeta Mellark, the son of a baker, who is in love with Katniss. During the Games, Katniss uses his love to her advantage, so that the wealthy audience can send her food and medicine.

All the citizens from districts four to twelve hate the Capitol because of the oppression, poverty and violence that they suffer. Katniss angers the Capitol during the Games when her new friend Rue from District Eleven is killed, and she shows compassion by laying flowers on her body. Furthermore, at the end of the Games, only Peeta and Katniss remain, so each refuses to kill the other. Instead, they agree to eat poisoned berries together so that there is no winner for the Capitol. In response, rather than being humiliated in front of the districts, the Capitol allows the couple to win together. The other districts watching the Games have now witnessed an act of rebellion, and they want more. Thus, a second revolution is about to be born…

‘Catching Fire’ is about the development of this revolution. The Capitol is furious at Katniss for starting a second rebellion, so they create a special version of the Hunger Games for all the previous victors, which means that Katniss and Peeta must return. During these games, they create a team of victors, who manage to destroy the arena and escape to District Thirteen, which most people thought did not exist. However, the Capitol captures Peeta, and they destroy District Twelve."

I'm exited to watch Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 even though I have already read the book.
I hope that the movie will be just as good as the first two movies. Stay tuned!

GAMES

In my last fill in, I talked about my new and old games. Now, the only games I bought/got were the full version of Minecraft for Windows 10 and Candy Crush Friends Saga.

So that’s basically it, really. My Lego League team is going to state next week on Sat. Feb 23 2019 and other than that...I’m done!

I’ll have another fill in day with more facts coming soon. Hope to write again,
David
