Wannaskan Almanac for Tuesday, May 6, 2025 4 and 6 are Ten!

On May the 4th, people celebrate by saying, "May the Fourth be with you".  It is a pun encouraging people to follow the light side of the "Force" from Star Wars.
Some people really go all out on that day.  They dress up as Star Wars characters and even get into light saber duels.  It is actually a fan-made holiday celebrating the Star Wars franchise. It's a fun and festive day to enjoy all things Star Wars, with popular ways to celebrate including movie marathons, themed parties, crafting, and even dressing up as your favorite characters.  So light saber duels are actually not a common occurence.

"May the Sixth Be With You" is a Star Wars-themed pun, referencing the "Revenge of the Sith" storyline and often used to celebrate the dark side of the Force on May 6th. It's a counterpoint to the "May the Fourth Be With You" celebration of Star Wars Day.  Since it is celebrating the "Dark" side of the force, it is generally celebrated by the seedy elements of society...lawyers, IRS agents, and politicians for example.

Finally, many of us wait to celebrate until May 10th.  This special day is the culmination of both the light side and the dark side...the final chapter as it were...where we celebrate the greatest of all the movies in the series...Space Balls.  In Space Balls we are introduced to the schwartz, which is even more powerful than the Force.  For those of you who know ancient Sumerian, the schwartz loosely translates to "May 10".  One famous person was even named after this day...General Norman Schwarzkopf.  He was a Sumerian enthusiast who was involved in some ancient Sumerian battle.

The Wannaskan Almanac would like to formally invite you to celebrate May 10 with us.  We will be having a party over by that brook by our headquarters...I believe it is called Mel Brook.  Bring beer.  And wine.

...and May the Schwartz be with you!
