Wannaskan Almanac for Tuesday, April 8, 2025 Rock On!

Rock music.
It has been one of the greatest influences on modern culture.  Anti-war and acid rock of the 60's.  Disco, motown, and R&B from the 70's.  Glam rock (hair bands) and pop music from the 80's.  Grunge and alternative from the 90's.  Adult comtemporary and crap rock from the 2000's on.

According to my research, rock music hit the peak of quality and popularity in 1985.  That was the year I graduated and everyone I ask from my graduating class agrees with me on that assertion.  So it is unquestionable.  To prove my point, I found this graph on wikipedia.

Music declined in quality and bottomed out in 2006, coinciding with Taylor Swift's first release

I believe that is the problem with our world today.  The music just plain sucks.  Most music nowadays seems geared toward making teens even more depressed and angry than they naturally are.  This could be solved with a little Fleetwood Mac and Bryan Adams.  Heck, even a little Cyndi Lauper for the ladies.  If we could just chill out to some old time rock and roll we would all be a lot happier.

If these songs don't lift your spirits then I don't know what to do for you.  I guess Nicleback has ruined your musical taste and you are destined to be miserable.

If that is you, call our helpline.  Operators are standing by. They have music from 1985 ready to soothe your soul!

Don't request The Rolling Stones at a wedding dance. The response will be 'Who are They?'
