What kind of world would you make if you could?
Chapter 8: The World's Embrace
The disappearance of the dirtbike marked a turning point in Elias's journey. He was no longer bound to the remnants of the old world. He was now fully immersed in the altered world, a part of its ancient rhythm.
He began to notice things he hadn't seen before, subtle shifts in the environment, a growing awareness of the interconnectedness of all living things. The animals, he realized, were not just indifferent to his presence; they were… helping him.
A deer would appear at the edge of the forest, guiding him along a hidden path. A flock of birds would fly overhead, leading him towards a source of fresh water. A bear would leave a freshly killed salmon near his sleeping place, providing him with food.
It was as if the altered world itself was guiding him, nurturing him, assisting him in his quest. The animals were its messengers, its hands and feet, helping him to cleanse the land.
Elias walked with a new sense of purpose, a deeper understanding of his role in this transformation. He was not just a destroyer, erasing the works of man. He was a facilitator, a catalyst for change, helping the world to heal itself.
He continued his journey westward, through the vast wilderness of Canada. He sang at the mines and the logging operations, at the pipelines and the power plants, and the land responded to his song.
The animals became his companions. He traveled with packs of wolves, soared with eagles, and swam with schools of salmon. They were his guides, his protectors, his allies in this great undertaking.
Time continued to lose its meaning. Elias no longer measured his journey in days or weeks or years, but in the turning of the seasons, the cycles of life and death, the slow, patient rhythm of the earth.
He reached the Pacific Coast of Canada, a rugged and beautiful land of fjords and islands, of towering mountains and ancient forests. He sang at the coastal cities, at the fishing villages, at the industrial ports, and the wilderness reclaimed its own.
He stood on the western edge of the continent, the vast ocean stretching before him, and looked back at the land he had traversed. He had cleansed Canada, from the eastern shores to the westernmost islands. And as he looked out at the endless expanse of the Pacific, he knew that his journey was far from over.
The world was vast, and there were other continents to cleanse, other lands to heal. And Elias, the singer of the Song of the Turning, was ready to continue his quest, guided by the animals, sustained by the earth, and driven by the ancient power that flowed through his veins.
