Squibs

Youth empties the jug on a Saturday night,
Then awakes the next noon feeling jolly and bright.
But each extra decade, he notes with a groan
Extends by a day his recovery zone.

Don’t expect to loll around on a cloud when you get to Heaven.  After a short briefing you’ll be off on your next mission impossible.

When you’re young and able you can live anywhere. When you need assistance, move to a small city. When you need care, move to a small town.

The novice writer tries to tell everything. The master lets the reader help.

We appeal to reason to excuse the deeds we’ve done through passion.

Chairman Joe

  1. Chairman Joe doesn't write these; I know him by his real name. You do your writing and the world at large an injustice by not posting it as the byline. I know that someday someone will choose one of your Squibs as a quote for the New York Times, Grand Forks Herald or the Roseau Times-Region, and say aloud, just as they do now, "That's brilliant." Or "I'm really warmed by this wisdom." Or "Obviously 'e has Irish blood acoursin' t'ru 'is veins as shure as St. Pat holds the record for da most baptisms in all of Ireland. Who in the hell is Chairman Joe, really?"
