Hello and welcome to a goofy Saturday here at the Wannaskan Almanac. Today is November 7th. I'm 5/12ths of the way through my 51st year.
Hunters are out and about gleefully tromping through the woods, taking up residence in their deer stands, eager to get a big one sooner rather than later. Weather forecast looks good with a high of 53.
We aren't hunters at our house, but we can get excited for our neighbors and peeps. It's good to feel good.
Passing it along now to the Kid-Writer-in-Training to provide our WA readers - or, as he would say, "Weaders" - some updates in his own words!
As you would think, all of my friends are going hunting. Or playing hockey this weekend. So I have nothing to do. Thankfully, I have a different adventure. I get to go to Brainerd with my mom. We're going to be leaving "at the butt crack of dawn," as my mom says.
The reason for leaving super early is because it's a 4-hour trip all the way down to Brainerd. We are gonna visit my mom's friend's daughter who just had a birthday. We're also gonna see my grandma. And my uncle and my mom's cousin. I'm going with my mom A) because I don't want to be at my house the whole weekend because that would be boring and B) my mom needed a driving buddy because that 4-hour trip can get pretty lonely. Which gives me something to do over the weekend.
On the boring side of me, I just finished reading my book The Land of Stories: Beyond the Kingdom. Which basically is about this guy who is making an army of people from stories like Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and the Wizard of Oz. I like these books because they connect a whole bunch of little stories into one big story. Also, I'm doing really well on my saxophone, so that's pretty cool. I know I'm doing well because my band director says, "You are one of my best saxophones." Also, my band director is teaching me how to play the drum set.
Also, bringing you up to speed about Halloween, I dressed up as Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter series. I got 162 pieces of candy that, after I've organized, should last me til February. And, this year, I got to go trick-or-treating with three of my good friends. We walked around both Lake Streets and we did a little bit of trick-or-treating around the Icon apartments. One of my friends was dressed up as a hockey player. Another one was Spider-Man, and the funniest one was a big, 7-foot-tall, inflatable yellow chicken.
Wrapping it up, I think I'm just bringing you up to speed on what I'm doing this weekend and on what I've been doing. Thank you so much for reading my blog post, and I'll write for you another time.
