Hello and welcome to a Happy-New-Year Saturday, here at the Wannaskan Almanac. Today is January 3rd and the first Saturday of 2026.
On the Friday of Wonder (yesterday), I had multiple adventures on multiple levels with our great friend Paul and my sister. Our amazing day started in the morning. "Antonin! Antonin! Wake up!" my sister said, as I lay on the air mattress. "We can't be late for our adventure. Come on!" It was 7:00 a.m. when she said that. And I was in a dream where I was eating marshmallows. And, yes, I still had my pillow when I woke up. So, I unwillingly woke up and went upstairs. There, we had a DELICIOUS breakfast of toast, milk, bacon, and plain scrambled eggs. The bacon was perfect. It was my favorite part. It was crispy. It was juicy. It was yummy. We were all supposed to have two pieces, but I took three. I don't think Paul minded very much. (Hopefully.) But then me, my sister, and Paul started talking about what we were going to do on that day. We decided on two things: go to the Science Museum and the Ice Castle in St. Paul. And then after all that, we would go to a Czech party.
First, I'm going to talk about the Science Museum. It was awesome. I had a lot of fun. We got to see a dinosaur show and we got to see fossils and learn about the human body. I got to go in a cage where I practiced a trick and then I went into another cage where I recorded the trick in slow motion. For the first trick, I threw a football. For my second one, I kicked a soccer ball. For my third one, I drop-kicked another soccer ball. That was fun. But then we got to go to the Omnitheater, and the Omnitheater was MASSIVE. It was really big and really cool. The screen went halfway 'round the room and the room was the size of half of a football field. We saw a documentary about the state parks. Fun fact: those special rock formations at a certain state park are made by water falling into the cracks. When the water freezes, it expands, and the rocks implode.
Next, after the Omnitheater, we went to the Ice Castle - and it was quite literally an ice castle. There were ice slides, tunnels, sculptures, and the whole thing was just a lot of fun. It looked like Elsa's Frozen Castle! It wasn't very cold, either. My favorite part of the Ice Castle was going down the snowtubes. It was fun!
Now, I'm going to talk about the party after all that fun stuff. It was a Czech party where Czech people spoke in Czech and I had some pretty good conversations. With one person, I talked about Czech heritage. With another, I talked about stuff I like about Czech Republic. Some stuff I like about Czech Republic is the food there is just amazing. They have řízky and it's basically breaded meat and it's so good. At the party, I ate chlebíčky - another Czech food - and a lot of treats and sweets. I also had this AMAZING drink that was like a peach drink with peaches in it.
The Friday of Wonder was really fun, but sadly, we have to go home today. It was a short trip, but we enjoyed it.
Have a great day, Happy New Year, and drop your 2026 resolutions in the comments!
