Your Cruise Director for December

Good morning and welcome to another Saturday here at the Wannaskan Almanac. Today is the first day of December. Do you know what that means?

December signals official permission to embrace preparations for all of the holidays, festivities and celebrations that occur at the end of the year.

It's the LAST "first" of the month until the new year.

This is the LAST month of 2018. A new year is only 30 days away. Where did the time go?

Or maybe it has no significance other than that it falls on a Saturday, which is always lovely in my book. (Unless you have bills to be paid on the 1st, in which case I hope you use autopay or looked at a calendar. If you have bills due today, I urge you to pay them as soon as you finish reading this post!)

While I was in Kauai, one of my classmates often joked that I was the conference "cruise director" (that's a Love Boat reference). I could totally see her point. I enjoy introducing people to each other, making new acquaintances, taking time to chat with everyone at a table, and overall - I like to include others and for others to feel included.

We're quite a diverse bunch here at the Wannaskan Almanac and I've spent this past year wondering what my niche is. What's my angle - the theme that people look forward to reading about every Saturday. I'm still trying to figure this out, so if you have any ideas - or heck, just want to tell me what you enjoy most or look most forward to in my blog posts, comment below or email me at kim@redshoeswriting.com.

For now, I'm going to roll with being the blog's Cruise Director. I think I'll even use the initials after my name. Kim Hruba, C.D. (not to be confused with OCD, which I am not usually known for, except when I want something to be absolutely perfect.) Or Kim Hruba, B.C.D. (Blog Cruise Director). By this time, it's a hoot to see these letters in correct alphabetical order, so for fun, I can be Kim Hruba A B.C.D. (A Blog Cruise Director.)

Did I mention I might be prone to A.D.D. as well?

It's December 1st!This month is jam-packed with wonderful opportunities to gather for all kinds of activities - music, art, shopping, reflection, relaxation. Yoga!

Over the next few weeks, I'll be posting a list of events for YOUR benefit.

  1. It's a good idea to review the Urban Dictionary before adopting any job title acronyms.

This is a good niche for you! I can also see you doing advice column for mom's.

  2. Have you ever thought doing about a video blog site? What's it called, 'a vlog or something like that? Glanced at a local Roseau business site vlog last night-well, it needs some real work, but I'm sure a cruise director would have no problem. Employ the kids as camera-people ...

But on a more serious note, I see you had a hand in producing that promotional magazine for the border country and it sure impressed me. Fantastic images and stories/advertising/promos. Great job.
